The Gmail core edition reads, organizes, and sends mail without a separate SmartMail service account. Cloud AI is disabled. Gmail data-access verification is pending; consent branding has been verified. Service-account and AI instructions below apply to development or future editions.

Future SmartMail service accounts

Gmail core functions do not require website sign-in. The account service is prepared for a later edition; its sign-in page displays availability. These instructions do not enable cloud AI in the Gmail core edition.

Visit Sign in for the website’s account options. Once configured, Continue with Google verifies your identity to create or access a SmartMail AI service account. It does not connect Gmail or request mail access. Connecting a mailbox is a separate step in the mail app.

If you already have a SmartMail AI password account, use its email and password in the website’s existing-account form. If Google sign-in reports an account with that email already exists, it means we have not silently linked the Google identity to that password account. Sign in with your existing SmartMail email and password. Then open your account page and use Link your Google identity to choose the Google account with the same email address. Once linking succeeds, you can use that Google account to sign in next time. Linking requires the sign-in services to be configured.

If sign-in is shown as unavailable, the production Google web client or account service has not been configured. Reloading or granting Gmail permissions will not resolve that configuration. The page shows the current availability of Google sign-in and password sign-in.

The website needs authentication cookies to keep you signed in. Use Sign out of this browser on your account page to clear the local website session. Website and desktop sessions are separate. Signing out does not delete the AI account, sign you out of Google, or revoke a separate Gmail connection.

Website sign-out also attempts to revoke that service session. If the website reports that the service was unavailable, you are signed out of this browser but the remote session could not be revoked. Contact support if you need that remote session revoked immediately.

Connect or reconnect a mailbox

In the desktop app, open Settings → Account → Add account. Choose Gmail and Continue with Google, then finish authorization in the browser. Google’s screen shows the permissions requested by the configured SmartMail client.

The current development app requires the project’s own desktop Google OAuth client to be configured under Settings → Advanced → Mail Sign-in. The public website does not configure that desktop client or grant mailbox access through its separate identity sign-in. During Google testing, the Google account may need to be listed as a test user in that project.

If an existing connection expires, open that mailbox’s … menu in Settings → Account in the desktop app and choose Reconnect. For an organization-managed mailbox, your administrator may need to allow the app or the required mail protocols. Contact us with the exact error if the connection still fails.

Disconnect SmartMail’s Gmail mailbox access

  1. In the desktop app, open Settings → Account, open the mailbox’s … menu, choose Remove Account…, and confirm. The current desktop app removes the saved connection and associated local cached mail and drafts.
  2. Open your Google Account connections, select the matching app connection, and remove its access.
  3. Repeat local removal on other devices or app installations where you connected that mailbox.

Local removal and provider revocation are separate steps. Neither deletes your Google account or undoes sent mail. Revocation prevents future access under the revoked authorization; it does not erase copies already downloaded or information already processed by AI. Google identity sign-in and Gmail mailbox access are separate; revoking a Google connection does not by itself clear an existing SmartMail website session. Sign out of the website separately.

AI is disabled in the Gmail core edition

The core edition has no cloud summaries, AI writing, translation, or mailbox assistant uploads. The controls described below are for development builds with AI enabled and are not available in the core edition.

In development builds with AI enabled, uploads are off until you choose Allow AI uploads in Settings → Subscription. Choose Withdraw permission there to stop active requests and prevent future manual and background uploads from that device. Withdrawing permission cannot recall content already sent.

In the desktop app, open Settings → Subscription and turn off Summarize new mail automatically to stop scheduling automatic summaries. Manual summaries, writing, translation, assistant requests, and mail indexing are separate AI actions. When upload permission and automatic summaries are enabled, signing into AI may also start summaries for eligible messages in the local backlog.

In the desktop app, choose Sign out in Settings → Account to remove the local AI session and stop new authenticated AI requests from that app. The app also attempts to revoke that service session. If it cannot reach the service, remote revocation may not succeed. Already submitted requests and previously processed data are not undone by signing out, and your SmartMail AI account is not deleted.

Mailbox access and AI access are separate. Review the AI data disclosure before using cloud features with sensitive messages. Provider terms, retention rules, and checks of installed release builds on real devices are being finalized for release. The iOS and Android development clients also include upload permission and withdrawal controls; their settings layouts differ from the desktop steps above.

Request deletion of your SmartMail AI account

The Gmail core edition has no SmartMail AI account requirement. For a password account in an AI development build, open Settings → Account → Delete AI account… and confirm the account email and SmartMail password. After verifying your identity, the service deletes the account, linked Google identity, sign-in sessions, and usage records from its account database. Your connected mailboxes and local email stay on the device.

For Google-only accounts or help with deletion, email support@yoursmartmail.com with the subject “Delete my SmartMail AI account” and the email address used for that account. Send from the account email when possible. We may need to verify account ownership. Do not include your password or tokens.

An email submits a request; it is not an automatic deletion action. The website does not yet provide an account deletion control. Request handling periods and provider, log, and backup deletion rules are still being finalized. Signing out or uninstalling the app does not delete the server-side AI account. Deleting a SmartMail AI account would not delete your external Gmail or other provider account.

Use the same contact for other privacy requests. The privacy policy explains the current storage boundaries and outstanding release details.

Manage remote images

In the desktop app, open Settings → Safety and turn off Load remote images to block externally hosted images in messages. This can hide legitimate images as well as tracking pixels. Opening an external link still contacts that destination website.
